Shine Gifts and Fashion, a locally owned and operated business opened in Cullen Bay in 2008 and at Darwin Waterfront in 2011. In 2020 the business was expanded to double the size at Darwin Waterfront and is home to over 2000 cool tropical garments that visitors and locals just love! Fabric choices now include Bamboo, 100% Linen, Indian Cotton, Indonesian Rayon, and fibre blends which have been chosen for their versatility, cool comfort and easy care.  Most garments are great for travel as they can be washed, dried on hangers and need no ironing. The owners design and source cool tropical garments which range from sizes XXS to XXXXXL. This year Shine Gifts and Fashion has expanded the clothing range to include Men’s polo shirts with ‘NT’ logos, ‘Darwin’ printed T-shirts and Hawaiian shirts.

The shops are stocked with colourful wall art and home decor, beautiful opal and pearl jewellery, ladies costume jewellery, children’s bracelets made in-store, and necessities for the beach such as sarongs, sunnies, beach towels and beach toys. If you arrive in Darwin without a hat, ‘Shine’ has the answer with some top range, sized Men’s and unisex toyo and straw hats, ladies fashion hats, ‘Darwin’ caps and hats for kids. And ‘if your feet get too hot’, or your need footwear for the pub, they sell old-fashioned thongs.

The owners of Shine Gifts and Fashion are passionate about providing unique products so that you can go away with a real NT souvenir. Their extensive range includes drink coolers and coffee mugs in Aboriginal designs, shot glasses, coasters, crocodile products, drink bottle holders, stubby coolers and fridge magnets which are labelled ‘Darwin’ or the ‘NT’. They even sell ‘Darwin’ croc mints!

The shops also have a nice lot of post-cards, many of which show tourist destinations that the staff have photographed and had printed. All are labelled to show their location, and even include a cheeky crocodile photographed at Corrobboree Billabong.

Anne, one of the owners who has lived in Darwin for over forty years, is an image consultant and understands the need for comfortable fashions for the Top End climate.  The wonderful staff provide great help in garment choice. If you are interested in greater understanding about what suits you best, check out the ‘My Private Stylist’ link. Anne also conducts one-on-one colour consultations which show what colours best suit your complexion, hair and eye colouring.

Located in two of the most popular locations in Darwin, the stores offer something for everyone, from young families to tourists and grey nomads. Darwin Bus Route 14 travels between Darwin Waterfront and Cullen Bay and will deliver you to both shops. Also, the ‘red bus’ goes by every couple of hours.
